Music

Going beyond the requirements set out in the official syllabus, the pupils at the NACE centres receive a very solid musical education. Music plays an important role in integrated education and in personal development. It educates them in self-discipline and effort, sensitivity, order, teamwork, precision and exactitude... and these virtues are then transmitted, in the most natural way, into a very wide range of fields of activity in our centres, impregnating school life and personal relations.

Apart from the official compulsory syllabus, all our pupils learn to play at least one musical instrument (piano, violin, viola, cello, etc.) and develop, alongside this, their vocal capacities, performing periodically in front of their schoolmates. They also have the opportunity to form part of the school’s own orchestra or choir.

Integrated Centre of Musical Education

Àgora Portals has the advantatge to be an Integrated Centre of Musical Education, pupils at Àgora Portals will obtain, depending on the year they first enrol at the Centre, the corresponding qualification of Elementary Grade in Musical Education.

The pupils who wish to continue their musical studies, the Centre is also authorised to teach the Intermediate Grade, with courses offered at times that are compatible with the normal school timetable.

Pupils at Àgora Portals will receive the Elementary Grade in Music qualification when they complete their Primary Education. However, according to Spanish law, for this to happen, the pupils must have started their studies at the school between the ages of 3 and 8.

Letter from  music Principal

As the Principal of the integrated musical education centre of the Ágora-Portals School and at the same time as the Coordinator for the Area of musical education at the Ágora-Portals School I am pleased to welcome you and introduce this innovative and unique educational project.

Musical education contributes to the full development of people: developing intellectual abilities, an artistic and creative sensitivity, promoting discipline and effort, as well as cooperation and fostering a critical personality...Therefore, the basis of this project is the understanding of music no only as another aspect of comprehensive education, but as one of its cornerstones. This way musical education becomes one of the distinctive quality features of our centre.

This is why our students, during the initial phases of education, are introduced to the universe of music in a sensorial manner, and this knowledge is then built on during primary education, where they start learning to play a musical instrument and where we try to make them be in contact with music nearly every day. All students play an instrument and sing regularly every week in one of the various instrument and vocal groups in the centre.

By the time they finish primary education, all our students receive an Elementary Music Certificate.

Students deciding to continue with professional music education in secondary education and baccalaureate will receive a Professional Music Certificate.
